A Little About You……….
I always feel a little silly talking about myself like this, but here goes. I’m Lisa and I’m an author. But more than that, I’m a mom, a wife, a publisher, an editor, and so many more. I started writing a handful of years ago and the fire never left. Just over a year ago, two friends and I opened a small publishing house, Renaissance Romance Publishing, and released our first book together. From there, life took off! We’ve enjoyed every moment of it!
A Little About Your Writing……….
All of my books have a basis of Romance to them. Over the last year, I’ve released four novellas, that were part of a collection of Anthologies, and one full length novel, which is the first in a two book series. My first novella, Life’s Unexpected Gifts, is a simple love story about a girl grieving the loss of her father, when someone begins to send her gifts from a secret admirer. It was the first time that I found myself falling in love with a character. From then on, each of my characters took a small piece of my heart with them.
What Inspired You To Start Writing?
I started writing after a severe bout with insomnia. Night after night, I’d find myself struggling to fall asleep, so in the meantime, I’d come up with these little silly stories. One night, I said screw it and went to my lappy and started writing. It was bad — like really bad, but I loved the way I felt when I wrote little twists, when I poured all of my emotions into my characters. After a lot of fear, I took the leap and published my first book.
How Has Writing Changed Your Life?
Writing has given me a new insight into the way I look at things. I listen to music nearly nonstop, and I often find myself finding plot ideas from the songs. Also, I see the beauty in the written word. My children have started writing their own books, and I find myself able to bond with them on a whole new level. But more than all of that, writing has taught me that I can do anything.
What Is Your Favourite Book, Ever?
Oh, wow, that’s a hard question to answer. I love a lot of books, but my favorite will always be Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone. The world that J.K. Rowling created is amazing.
What Is The Best Piece Of Writing Advice You Could Give, And Why?
Never stop. Never give up. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. We all struggle with writer’s block, we’ve all had those moments where we feel like every word we write is garbage, but we have to push through it. Put everything you have in your writing, it’s worth every second of it.
If You Were A Dragon, What Kind Of Dragon Would You Be?
Gonna be honest and say that I don’t know the first thing about dragons, so I will say a pretty one with lots of power. That’s pretty easy, right?
